Auditory-Verbal Therapy

A cochlear implant without the necessary therapy is like a great sports car without gas (for lack of a better analogy). I have to say my wife provides the gas. She has put in countless hours working with Laney and the hard work is paying off, because we are beginning to see the progress. The A-V approach is frustrating early on because you are constantly putting back on hearing aids, learning therapy techniques, and visiting doctors. You see very little results for your efforts, but it is the base that you are building that will propel the child after the implant. The other piece of the puzzle has been the efforts of Mrs. Mary Ann Costin of The Auditory-Verbal Center  of Atlanta, Inc. and all the great people there. They have and continue to give us the tools we need to provide the necessary therapy to drive Laney's development.

Laney graduated from AVCA  after over six years of hardwork...WAY TO GO LANEY!
